Check your certificate#
- Molecular weight 751.87 (monoisotopic 751.43). On a mass spectrum, expect ions near 752.4 (singly charged) and 376.7 (doubly charged).
- No sulphur in the formula. Selank is C33H57N11O9. A formula containing S, or a mass near 813.93, describes Semax.
- A mass, not only a percentage. A certificate that reports purity alone has said the sample is clean without saying what the sample is.
- Purity, with the method named, measured on that batch rather than quoted as a minimum.

What the research covers#
Like Semax, most of the published work on Selank is in Russian, much of it predates modern reporting standards, and the English-language peer-reviewed literature is thin and heavily preclinical. That work largely concerns GABAergic signalling, including a rat gene-expression study and a binding study in brain membrane preparations, and the immune activity inherited from tuftsin, the antibody fragment it is built on. What is Selank?
A synthetic seven-residue peptide, Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. The first four residues are tuftsin, a fragment of immunoglobulin G; the last three, Pro-Gly-Pro, are the same synthetic tail that Semax carries.
What molecular weight should the certificate show?
751.87 (monoisotopic 751.43), usually seen as ions near 752.4 and 376.7. The formula is C33H57N11O9, with no sulphur; 813.93 is Semax.
How should it be stored?
Sealed vial at 2-8°C, dry and dark. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic or sterile water, keep it at 2-8°C, protected from light, and avoid thawing and refreezing the same volume.
