Accessories and consumables

Everything that goes with the vial. A lyophilised peptide is not usable on its own: it needs a solvent to go into, something to measure it with, and somewhere clean to do it. This is the whole of that side of the catalogue in one place.

The pen system

A refillable pen is three parts that only work together — the pen itself, a glass cartridge that holds the solution, and a screw-on needle that is changed every time. The kit ships with all three. The other two pages are what you buy when the first lot runs out.

The case has three moulded recesses for spare needles and a slot for a spare cartridge, so the usual pattern is to keep the case stocked and reorder needles in tens.

Syringes

The alternative to a pen, and cheaper per use. One sealed unit, needle bonded to a graduated barrel, where you read the volume off the barrel yourself rather than setting it on a dial.

The two differ by gauge at the same 12 mm length. The 29G draws faster and costs less; the 30G has a stated 0.5 µl dead volume, which is the argument when what is in the barrel cost more per millilitre than the syringe did.

Solvents

Three different liquids that are not interchangeable, and choosing between them is a solubility and storage question rather than a quality one.

SolventWhat it isWhen it is the right one
Bacteriostatic waterWater with 0.9% benzyl alcohol Multi-draw vials kept over days or weeks — the preservative inhibits bacterial growth
Sterile waterWater with organisms removed, no preservative Single use. Once the seal is broken nothing stops new growth
Acetic acid waterDilute acetic acid Compounds that dissolve poorly at neutral pH

Our reconstitution calculator works out the concentration and draw volume once you have decided how much solvent to add.

Shipping, and why these are cheaper to post

Most of this page is small enough to travel as a Royal Mail Large Letter rather than a parcel, so it carries a lower postage rate than a vial order does. Everything on the site goes on Royal Mail Tracked 24, and UK delivery is free over the published threshold — see shipping for the current figures.

Worth reading first

Research use only. Everything on this page is supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. It is not for human or veterinary use, and we do not provide guidance on human or animal use. Purchasers must be 18 or over and buying for research purposes.

Prices are shown on each product page and in the catalogue, which is the single place they are maintained.
